Karen Boykin-Towns, a change catalyst, and results-driven leader, recently attended a virtual panel discussion, A Conversation on Gender, Race, and Success hosted by Zoetis. Along with Karen, Kristin Peck and Pattie Sellers were attendees of this discussion as well.

Zoetis is the world’s largest producer of medicine and vaccinations for pets and livestock.

One of the topics they discussed was about the steps Zoetis is taking to become a more diverse and inclusive company. As an expert on the matter, Karen shared her insights on what a company and its employees must do to become leaders in the space of diversity.

You can watch that part of Karen’s conversation here, or read the excerpt below.

“Zoetis talks about the 4 Cs that they have come forward with. These are Culture, Colleagues, Career, and Community. I like to talk about the 3 Cs — Courage, Commitment, and Conviction.

“What we know, is that this is a window of opportunity where people and leaders are listening. This is where leaders are open to opinions. It’s important, no matter where you sit within an organization, to use your voice. Use your voice to speak up because you are in a company that is really wanting to do right and build this amazing culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. They don’t have all the answers, but if everyone pitches in with their input, I think it really will help with the celebration that is going on. Zoetis will not just have one of the best leaders at the helm, but will be a company that can be a leader in this space itself.”
