According to the IPC, electronics and semiconductors, a 70B+ industry, support up to 5.3 million American jobs.

In a recent conversation with one of the key players in this space, NextFlex executive director Dr. Malcolm Thompson, we learn about a proposed $22.8 billion bipartisan support bill that brought attention to electronics manufacturing as well asthe world’s largest contract chipmaker TSMC announcing plans to build a $12 billion factory in Arizona.

Thompson goes on to tell us “companies like Boeing already invested in workforce development programs to ensure Huntsville, Alabama will be an advanced manufacturing hub, and similar efforts have been taking shape in Ohio, California, Louisiana and the Carolinas.”

My take though from all of this is that this is another great opportunity for high school and community college students in what is obviously a growing advanced manufacturing field.
